Hanley Controls Clonmel Company History
The early nineteen eighties was an exciting time in Ireland for business. Government policy effected through the IDA was to encourage global process companies to set up manufacturing plants in the country. The supply infrastructure was way behind the needs of the new demands and therein lay opportunities for enterprise.
Malachy Hanley and Kevin Dundon had a good knowledge of the systems and devices needed and the sources of the associated materials. In September 1981 they registered Hanley Controls Clonmel with the Companies Office as a supply entity, operating out of the town of Clonmel.
The Company started up with distribution contracts with Parker Hanifin and the Foxboro Company. We were well received by the engineers and purchasers in the customer companies and were able to grow the business at a steady rate over the years.
Over time the number of distribution contracts with principals expanded with major brand leaders and the staff numbers increased to keep pace with the business demands and volumes. In selecting what manufactures to work with, we were able to approach companies with high world recognition rankings.
The Company has four divisions, Mechanical Engineering covering pipe fittings, valves and connections with bespoke custom manifolds, Utilities Metering covering water, gas and heat metering and control for Public Utilities and Industry, Process instrumentation covering process Instrumentation and process analysers, and Pneumatics/ Hydraulics for all your compressed air and hydraulic applications including cylinder manufacturing and hydraulic hose assemblies.
We have a manufacturing facility in Clonmel meeting all the standards to service Industry both in Ireland and further afield. Hanley Controls Clonmel Ltd., trading since 1981, 44 years in business , now employs in total over 70 staff with the addition of our new Hanley UK office operating from Brighouse.
Our customers are widespread including pharmaceutical, food and beverage, semiconductor, factory automation and general industry. The customers show their belief in the organisation by continuing to allow us conduct business with them over the years.
We look forward to serving Irish and International business for many years ahead.
