Hanley Controls is excited to announce the introduction of our new Heat Interface Units (HIUs), designed to deliver efficient, reliable, and compact solutions for heating and hot water in small dwellings and apartments. ​

These advanced units are set to transform the way homeowners and property managers experience comfort, convenience, and peace of mind in centralized and district heating system.

What Are HIUs?

Heat Interface Units (HIUs) are specialised modules installed within buildings that use centralised or district heating systems. Instead of each apartment or house having its own boiler, a central heat generator—such as a boiler room or a source of waste heat—produces the thermal energy required for the entire building. This energy is then distributed through a network of pipes to each individual dwelling, where the HIU manages both space heating and the instant production of domestic hot water.

​ Key Features and Benefits

Our latest HIU offering, the Twin Plate HIU V5, incorporates several features that set it apart:
  • Complete Separation of Water Circuits: The HIU keeps the primary (centralized) and secondary (individual dwelling) water circuits entirely separate. This design ensures that impurities from one dwelling do not contaminate the entire distribution network, making maintenance safer and more straightforward.
  • Enhanced Safety and Reliability: A plate heat exchanger is positioned between the primary and space heating circuits. This allows the primary circuit to operate at pressures up to 16 bar, while the space heating circuit is limited to a much safer 3 bar. By minimizing the working pressure in the space heating circuit, the risk of system failures or hazards is significantly reduced.
  • Compact and Efficient Design: The HIU is engineered to fit seamlessly into small apartments and homes, providing both heating and hot water on demand without occupying excessive space.
  • Easy Maintenance: With separate circuits and accessible components, routine maintenance can be performed in individual dwellings without disrupting the entire building’s heating system.

We recently completed an order at Hanley Controls (Clonmel) Ltd. supplying Pneumatic Tubing & Fittings from our PARKER LEGRIS range. Together with our own Value-Added PDIT Manifold Panels, designed and manufactured in-house here in Clonmel & all for Room Pressure Differential measurement in a Data Center/Management application.
