To date, any competent person could work on the Non Domestic gas Industry without registration or specific training. But in January 2019 the Non-domestic gas installations registration will commence and anyone working in this area must be registered or may face legal repercussions. The responsibility of regulating the Non-Domestic Gas Industry will be with the RGII, who over many years have successfully brought the Domestic Gas Installation Industry to the high and safe standard it is today.
The responsibility for the RGII will include anyone working in the following areas, Space Heating, Hot Water, Catering, laundry, Power Generation and CHP Installations.
The Rgii are accepting applications to provisionally register by completing their online application to facilitate your qualifications being assessed to determine what additional training will be required prior to the full non-domestic registration scheme commencing in Jan 2019.
Submitting your information online at RGI.ie. does not guarantee that you will be eligible for registration in 2019 but does identify you as a person who wishes to register and communicate with the new registration scheme prior to its start date.
Initial training will be total of 10 days for those already registered, RGII, the initial training will be 2 days over 5 weeks, for those not already registered with RGII, a total of 15 days training will be required.
